A to Zee Creativity's MUSICAL SUMMER 2012


This term's theme is Musicals: Sound of Music, My Fair Lady, and Mary Poppins

(8-12 years) 



Session 12: Friday August 31st 2012

Little cooks (can't remember who we agreed, kids will know) - pls arrive by 2.30pm!

Making: Chocolate shortbread biscuits

The plan: 

3.30pm: Stretches, voice, circle time

3.45pm: Poetry with Tehzeeb Katari

4.15pm: Woodwork with Ravi Katari (discussing what they will be making next term)

               Two batches of ten. Inside batch will be with Shaan Libby going over their plays.

5pm: Snack

5.15pm: Dancing with Manikandan & Prarthana, going over Musical numbers, then revising 

Waka Waka and Twist n Shout from previous terms.

6pm: Home time

THIS IS THE LAST CLASS OF TERM. MOST OF YOU HAVE BEEN PROMPT WITH NEXT TERM'S FEES - THANKS. WE MAY SHOW HARRY POTTER 2 ON SUNDAY MORNING - WILL RECONFIRM ABOUT THIS...

THOSE DOING THE NATURE CAMP THAT IS FROM 10AM TILL 4PM MONDAY TO FRIDAY NEXT WEEK (3RD-7TH SEP)! The rest: Have a great holiday! :)

Session 11: Friday August 24th 2012

Little cooks (Arham, Isra, Dhruv, Dhrishan please arrive by 2.30pm)

Making: Chocolate cupcakes or cheesy muffins (children can decide)

The plan: 

3.30pm: Stretches, voice, circle time

3.45pm: Reading of entire script (Sleeping Beauty)

               Reading / writing of script for HP1, 2, 3

4.30pm: Art with Mr.Philip (Shading with pencil continued - still life)

5.15pm: Woodwork with Ravi Katari (reinforcing basic techniques of carpentry)

               Two batches of ten. Inside batch will be with Jim Libby going over their plays.

6pm: Home time

I will not be at  A to Zee from 4.30pm onwards, so those registering for next term can do so with 

Jim. 




Show on Saturday 11th August 2012 !

The children sang and danced, recited poems, and showed off their trays (made in woodwork class).


Costumes for Saturday 11 Aug:

All girls to arrive in long dresses or long skirts and ruffly shirts, and party shoes and socks - shoes that they can dance in but not sports shoes. Hats (old style bonnets, sun hats, etc.) if you have them...

All boys to arrive in smart collared shirts - pale colours, and dark long trousers. Bow ties or neck scarves at the neck. Shoes and socks, ideally anything that will make a sound when they do the tap dancing...or can you tape a coin or some to the base...? Berets or top hats if you have them.

Ravi Uncle will nominate a couple of children to describe at the show - exactly what you all did in carpentry this term.

PLEASE NOTE: In view of unpredictable weather, and the possibility of having to go indoors, the short 

end of term show on Saturday 11th August 2012 will be divided as follows so that parents/grandparents 

need only stay for the relevant portion:

3.15pm-4pm: A to Zee Creativity (older batch 8 years and above)

4 - 4.20pm: Break / Older children to sell home made snacks for charity (We will collect for the Spastics

Society of India, please bring one tray of home made snacks, and one little collection box. Price your

snacks, and children to do the selling to adults straight after the show.

Please cover the trays with foil or table mats so that flies don't get to them during the show.

4.20pm - 5pm: A to Zeebees (younger batch 4-7 years old)

5 - 5.20pm: End of show / Children selling any remaining home made snacks for charity


Session Nine: Friday 3rd August 2012

Session Six will take place on Saturday 21st July instead of Friday...time: 1.45pm-4pm includes

showing of the film 'The Sound of Music'. Popcorn will be served.


Reason: Shaan is in a play at the Alliance Francaise on July 18, 19, 20, 21 from 7-9pm.

This is why a Friday evening class will be difficult on the 20th.

Do attend and tell your friends too - since there is no A to Zee and no school the next day, try to come on Friday 20th July! :)
Under 18s not permitted.

Session Six - Sat 21st July 2012


(No cooking today)

1.45pm: Stretches and voice exercises

2pm: Woodwork with Ravi Katari (building on last week's varnishing of trays...)

2.45pm: Sound of Music (first half only of this 3 hour film) and popcorn!

Singing along to all the songs learnt from this film - subtitles included (thanks Afshan!)

Please note: Drivers and maids not permitted in the house. I will escort children upstairs at 3.30pm. Anyone who arrives after this time: just come upstairs. Parents welcome to come upstairs to drop/fetch.
